Synopsis

DEAD SIMPLE Both Nightwing and Heinmel Von Cart, the Prime Minister of Kravia, survive several gun shots and after taking care of the security guard both men escape the State House. Von Cart organizes a small airplane which flies him and Nightwing out of the country. In tears Von Cart promises to destroy his son and disgrace his country by revealing the whole truth in the media.  Back in Gotham City Von Cart is brought to a hospital while Dick returns to his apartment. The moment he steps in he hears Miggie Webster's voice on the answering machine. Swiftly Dick takes the call and Miggie explains that her father is drunk and is armed with a gun. Immediately Dick wants to take off, but Goode Ole Bernie is already waiting for him in front of his apartment. Both men seem equally matched in hand-to-hand combat, but in the end Nightwing bests his opponent and knocks him out. Then Dick borrows Bernie's motor bike to drive to Miggie Webster.   While navigating through traffic Dick calls Miggie again via headset. She explains that she herself was responsible for her kidnapping - hoping that her violent father would start caring about her. But then the men she hired turned on her and wanted to collect a ransom. As Dick reaches the Webster estate he suddenly hears a gun shot. He finds Miggie's father lying dead on the floor after being shot by his own daughter. Dick offers Miggie his help, but according to her it is too late for that.   Later Nightwing visits Heinmel Von Cart at the hospital. The old man confesses that neither he nor his men did kill Dick's parents. With that information on his mind Nightwing leaves and meets Batman on a rooftop. Dick tells Bruce about the incidents in Kravia. But more important is Dick's understanding that Bruce did his best as a father figure and that him and Alfred were the best family he could have had. And he comes to the conclusion that there are many people out there who could use his help, so Dick wants to continue being Nightwing...
